Clayton State women set two team records at Tiger Paw Invite

CLEMSON, S.C. – February 11, 2012 – The Clayton State Laker women's track and field team set had a solid performance on Saturday at Clemson's Tiger Paw Invite with two new team records.

Both team records were in the long sprints. Gisele Javois set the Clayton State team mark in the 500-meter dash with a time of 1:25.03 to finish 23rd overall. Maia Kuhnen established the Clayton State team record in the 300-meter dash in 44.11 seconds to finish 28th overall.

The best event for Clayton State was the 5,000-meter run, where Paige Galvin and Jessica Smith both had impressive debuts in the event. Galvin placed 10th overall with a personal-best time of 19:09.29, while Smith placed 15th in 19:35.23.

In addition, Kuhnen placed 18th in the 800-meter run in 2:24.14. The Laker 4x400-meter relay team of Kuhnen, Javois, Monique Belmudes and Tamara Marshall placed 17th overall in 4:19.17.
